Hills Like White Elephants Response

Post  JohnJac on Thu Oct 23, 2014 10:11 pm

The line I picked from the Hills Like White Elephants is "There's nothing wrong with me. I feel fine."

This line picks up on Hemingway's tone throughout the whole story because the message is somewhat distorted and unclear. The emptiness of this line gives the reader curiosity of what the girl is trying means by what she says after all that she said prior. Hemingway does a good job of giving the audience a connection by creating a back and forth dialogue between the man and girl. This could be related to the reader because of how people hide their emotions and true feelings from people.
