Literacy Gee

Gee defines literacy as not just knowing a subject or skill but being well versed in it. Gee thinks to be literate one must be able to be a specialist in what they are literate in. They must be able to speak in a complex and educated way about their topic. Literacy, as Gee puts it is not just being able to do the basics of something.

I think Gee made a good argument in his defining literacy. I think he is right because for example if you know what a computer is and a few basic things on it such as the keyboard and screen that doesn't mean you know how to use a computer. To be literate is to really know something not just the surface level stuff, thats why I thought Gee made a good argument.
